   Pale wolfberry is native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, ranging from California east to Texas and north into Nevada, Utah, and Colorado in juniper woodlands and deserts.

   Ancestral Puebloans encouraged colonies of pale wolfberry near their villages, and Hopi, Zuni, and Acoma peoples ate the red berries fresh, boiled into syrup, or dried and ground into meal.

3. Entrada 3

   The Navajo considered pale wolfberry sacred and offered it to the gods; berries boiled and mixed with clay were eaten as a ceremonial pudding and stored for winter use.
