The Rangers at the Frontier have the foreign maps we need. Wesley Woodard is their operations commander there.
A pause, her expression uncertain.
Relations between the Institute and Rangers are... strained right now. After Dove Creek. Be diplomatic.
finShe holds up the coordinate pages, frustrated.
I can't make sense of the grid system. It's definitely not US military standard.
She sets them down carefully.
I remember seeing foreign maps in the Institute some time ago - pre-war, non-US military. The Rangers took them during some time ago.
She looks up, determined.
If this scientist was using one of those maps, we'd need the same one to place these coordinates.
I tried reaching out through official channels, but... relations between the Institute and Rangers are tense right now. They're not answering my requests.
She meets your eyes.
Could you go to the Frontier? Talk to Wesley Woodard - he's their operations commander there. Explain what we need.
The Rangers are suspicious of Institute motives after Dove Creek. You're not officially Institute, so maybe they'll listen. Just... be diplomatic. Please.

A tall, powerfully built man in his late thirties stands near the training grounds, watching recruits run combat drills. His Ranger uniform shows signs of field use, and medical pouches line his belt. He turns as you approach, his expression assessing but not unfriendly.
He crosses his arms as you approach.
You need something?
He studies you for a moment.
Foreign survey maps. Let me guess - chasing some old coordinates? Looking for a pre-war site?
He shrugs, unconvinced.
Could be anything out there. Weather station, survey post, somebody's field lab. Most of what's left isn't worth the time to reach it.
His tone becomes more businesslike.
But you want the maps anyway. Fine.

He's demonstrating field bandaging techniques to a young recruit, his hands moving with practiced efficiency.
"Pressure first, always pressure. Tourniquets are last resort - you cut off blood flow, you risk the limb."
He notices you waiting and holds up one finger - not now.
After finishing the demonstration, he dismisses the recruit with a curt nod.
