And the replay's thinned. First quiet night on that water in two winters.\n\tWesley: *He puts out his hand and shakes yours once, hard.* [#complete_quest]\n\t\tThat was ugly work. Thank you for doing it clean.\n\tWesley: One more thing, and I'll say it flat. The Institute posted paper on the site this morning. The whole creek is claimed as evidence - their dead, their salvage, their jurisdiction.\n\t\tSellard logged your eight as destruction of Institute assets. He wants the shooter at his desk.\n\t\t*He almost smiles.* [#end]\n\t\tRather it be you than one of mine. Go see the bookkeeper. Don't sign anything.\nelif is_quest_accepted\n\tWesley: *He doesn't lower the spyglass.* [#end]\n\t\tThe crossing, northwest where the creek bends (location 33,20). Eight of them.\n\t\tCount as you go. I will.\nelse\n\tWesley: *He's up on the wall with a spyglass when you find him, watching the creek line go dark.*\n\t\tYou can hold a weapon? Then you're the first volunteer I've had all week. Listen before you answer.\n\tWesley: Two winters back there was a joint operation out at Dove Creek. Rangers and Institute, escorting recovered ordnance. It went wrong. Eleven of theirs dead. I buried four of mine.\n\t\t*He folds the spyglass.*\n\t\tThe Institute says we started it over salvage. We say their Sentinels opened up first. Pick whichever story you like - the men are dead in both of them.\n\tWesley: Now the Scar has picked the fight up. Every night at the creek crossing (location 33,20), they're all back. And they're still at it.\n\t\tDrivers won't run the road. Freight's rerouting south through raider country. That crossing is mine to keep open, and I can't shoot my own dead.\n\t- What do you mean, they're back?\n\t\tWesley: *He looks at you steady.*\n\t\t\tEchoes. The Scar's kind. You've maybe seen them out west - they're supposed to wear the old world's clothes. Nineteen eighty-eight, walking.\n\t\t\tThese wear the same. That's the part I don't say twice: faces I trained, two winters in the ground, and the Scar dresses them out of a wardrobe older than any of us. Like it only owns the one.\n\t- Why not ask the Institute for help?\n\t\tWesley: *A short sound, not quite a laugh.*\n\t\t\tThe Institute's answer to Dove Creek is paperwork and more Sentinels. More of what dug the hole.\n\t\t\tNo. This needs somebody with no colors on their shoulders. Besides - their man here counts everything. I'd rather owe you than owe that ledger.\n\tWesley: Put them down. Eight should break the replay's back and let the freight move.\n\t\tIt isn't murder. I need to believe that, so I'll say it plainly: nothing walking that creek is my people. My people died two winters ago. What's out there is the Scar, wearing them.\n\tWesley: [#quest_info=16bef383-b896-4e07-a155-cabc06bf6a0e]\n\tif is_quest_accepted:\n\t\tWesley: [quest: accepted] [#end]\n\t\t\tTIP: [enemy: Temporal Echo] barely notice energy weapons. A blade's edge - SLASH - is what cuts them out of the air.\n\t\t\tBack to work, then.\n\telse:\n\t\tWesley: [quest: declined] [#end]\n\t\t\t*He raises the spyglass again.*\n\t\t\tThe road stays shut, then. Tell the drivers yourself.\n=> END\n"
