The Missing Tool
A crafter at the workshop is tearing his bench apart looking for something. "My best hammer - the one with the wrapped handle - it was right here an hour ago. Nobody touches my tools. Nobody." He glares at the apprentices, who all deny involvement.
The workshop has three other crafters, a pile of in-progress projects, and more hiding spots than you can count.

Check the apprentices' stations. If someone borrowed it, there'll be transfer marks on their work.

One apprentice's rivets show a distinctive peen pattern that doesn't match their assigned hammer - they used the crafter's good one and forgot to return it. You point this out. The apprentice confesses. The crafter gets his tool back and you get a favor owed.
FracasoYou examine the benches but every hammer pattern looks the same to you in this light. You announce your theory with confidence and the wrong apprentice gets accused. The real borrower stays quiet. The crafter finds his hammer later in a completely different spot. Nobody thanks you for the false accusation.
