The ruins are behind you now. The drag mark runs north, into Iron Wolf country. Whatever's left of the postman went that way.
endThe sorting floor has given up all it's going to. Tokens, a half-empty sack, a smear out the door heading north. The Wolves took him into their part of the ruins, and they took his things with them.
If there's an ending to this, it's up that road, in a raiders territory few blocks East, and it won't be handed over gently. Somebody has to go and be sure.

She sees the sack before she sees you. She sets down the rifle, crosses the post, and takes it from your shoulder with her one hand. Sets it on the crate, careful, the way you'd set down something that still had weight to it. Doesn't open it.
You found him, then. Or you found what there was left to find.
You give her the shape of it. The Wolves, the drag out the door, the print you'd rather not put words to. She hears it out without interrupting, which from her is its own kind of respect.
One man. No badge, no faction, no orders from anybody. He walked mail into every camp on this map and got the whole territory to let him pass.
I've spent my service trying to build half of that with a rifle and a radio, and he did it with a bag and a good pair of boots.
No. Talked to him twice, both times about roads.
She looks at the coat a long moment.
And I don't have his name. The whole territory owes that man and not one of us can put a word on the grave. That's the part that'll sit with me a while.
While you were up north, we didn't sit on our hands. Word went out. A few folks came forward to walk the routes - none of them him, nobody's him, but they'll carry, and that's what matters.
Rangers are on the bad stretches beside them now. No one walks it alone the way he did.
