These stages unlock codex entries for Mutated Bear.

1. Entry 1

   The cactus growths are not true roots. Fine fungal hyphae bridge plant tissue into the bear’s dermis, exchanging water, sugars, and nitrogen across living interfaces. Wounds rupture spore-filled sacs before significant blood loss occurs.

2. Entry 2

   Hunters identify old bear trails by cactus pads stuck high on pine trunks where the animals rubbed their flanks. After summer rain, those pads sometimes root. The new growth carries the same pale fungus found under the bear’s hide.

3. Entry 3

   Tissue samples from bears taken ninety kilometers apart contained genetically identical cactus cells and fungal cultures. The nearest matching plant was found beside a dry wash under the Scar. No continuous growth has been found between them.
