Biological classification remains disputed: genetic markers suggest amphibian ancestry, but the respiratory system functions equally in air and water through a membrane structure with no terrestrial analog. Institute biologists have requested the designation "unclassified" remain permanent.
- Entry 2
Settlements that dry and burn inkbloat carcasses for fuel report their fires burn a faint violet. Techno-shamans refuse to sit near the smoke.
- Entry 3
A scavenger's audio log, recorded on degraded cassette, describes finding a cave covered floor to ceiling in inkbloat markings. She said it looked like someone was trying to write something. The tape cuts out after that.
